Default 2003 A6 dont want to start sometime, instrument cluster failur?

I have a 2003 A6, and when I turn the key nothing happens, the insstrument cluster lights up as it should, but the starter dont turn around, I remove the key and try 10 minutes later, the car is starting.. I turn it of and try to start again.. it wont start.. and so we can keep on going..

I have run vag-com and had the following errors in the cluster (no other fault codes at all)

Is the problem the instrument cluster?

If it is, I have a cluster whitout the trip computer(?) whit only two connectors on the backside, I have found a lots of used cluster that have the big lcd and three connectos at the backside, can I code onw of these to my car?

Address 17
Controller: 4B0 920 901
Component: KOMBI+WEGFAHRS. M73 D06
Coding: 00144
Shop #: WSC 00000

1 Fault Found:
01336 - Data Bus for Comfort System
37-10 - Faulty - Intermittent

After I cleaned the code it came back, and after I cleaned it again and try to start the car I got the following

1 Fault Found:
01336 - Data Bus for Comfort System
37-10 - Faulty - Intermittent

More likely the central locking module under the driver's seat. Is it wet down there, been wet?

What was the last maintenance or repair action done on the car?

Why do you think it's something wrong ehit the central locking module? I dont have any problems opening the car and the central locking has never failed.

I can look tomorrow if it's wet under the seat.

The last maintenance was a oil service a year ago, and after that I got a new ECU installed on warranty from the Audi dealer that sold the car, this was 10 months ago.

Now I have removed the box and checked how it's looks, Could have been wet before I owned the car, but the carpet and the flor / box was all dry no.

Now what? replace the central locking module? does a new one need be coded?

I guess you could try continuity check the wiring harness between the driver's door and the body....the codes indicate communication problem, but it seems to be an intermittent thing.

No...I suspect this one is going to require some good old DVOM checking between the door components and the unlocking module or whatever. It could be something as simple as a broken/breaking wire in the harness.

Problem solved, It was more basic than I thougt and the fault codes dont have anything to do whit the problem.

loose contact on the cable / connection to the starter so I worked some times and sometimes not.
