I hope to be an A6 owner soon, but!!!!
However, it seems like every time I get close with the dealership, me being so specific raises the price. I am trying to be coy and not sound too eager. But I am getting frustrated. They seem to say that finding this car will be next to impossible and wold would have to negotiate off MSRP and not invoice. They keep saying this car is extremely in demand. And here in Florida, after searching the lots, I tend to agree. There are not many cars with this and none with black on black with the ash grain. They seem to want to put the silver in there with that combination.
I guess my question is, does anyone else get the vibe that this car is that hard to find? I am typically someone who knows when dealing with cars, they can almost always find the one you want. They just make it sound like what they are doing is extremely unique and not simply part their job.
I am just wondering if others are finding that the A6 is not an easy car to find? And if i do order it, they keep saying that will cost me more. Does that sound accurate?
There aren't a lot of A6's on lots in FL, but there's enough inventory to put you in the drivers seat so to speak. If you are a CostCo or credit union member, leveraging their services can get the price down. I negotiated myself, but used the USAA & TrueCar price data to my advantage.
You've got 8 days left in the month--so if they have something in stock that you will take give them your bottom line and leave it---if it doesn't sell they will reach out to you before the end of the month.
FWIW if you are going to buy it and keep it at least 4 years, I'd order it and get less of a "deal." It will only cost you $1500 or so, but you get the car exactly the way you want it.
And pretty much everyone who posts on message boards got a great deal--just like us married folks got the best deal on an engagement ring b/c we knew or a friend of ours knew someone who had the best price. I wouldn't believe everything you read. But if they can find a car exactly (or damn close) to your liking for $1000 over invoice--that's in no way a bad deal IMO.
