Default Ebay Headlight washer covers

Anybody ever buy the headlight washer covers on ebay, and did they hold up? ECS wants $45 for that piece of plastic and shokan wants $20 for used one. I'm not "that" cheap but I'm in the process of changing my second timing belt on my second c5 within 4 months.

Default Not sure on the washer covers

But I'm sure the timing belt story/info would be very interesting for the members to know, if you are willing to share of course.

How bad can a headlight washer cover be? Just get a cheap one, prime and spray paint it to your car's color and clip it on.
It's not like you have to spend an hour to get to the washer/jet by taking off the front bumper.

The washer cover just snaps onto the washer head.

BTW...if the washer is missing a ball, and they all eventually go, you can just pull off the washer head from a new washer jet assembly and pull off the old one from your car without pulling the bumper. Just push the new head down into the washer jet until it pops in.

It's a waste of money that audi doesn't supply just the washer head rather than the whole popup assembly.

How do you know it's not an OEM supplier? It's just plastic. And not particularly good plastic for all that....it's not in the engine compartment, it's not exposed to gasoline, etc. It's so easy to replace I'd just go for the Chinese part unless time/shipping costs are up against you.

No big story on the timing belt, just ended up with 2 a6's, a 99 a6 avant and a 00 a6 2.7. Kinda funny story though, The avant's timing belt service was questionable so instead of having to embark on the cost and time of 2 timing changes I traded the avant for a 98 328i and I thought the gas mileage would be better and I could avoid the TB service.

Well within the first couple months I had to change the cats, (e36 328's have the same cats as an m3 OUCH!), needed front struts, air conditioning went and the radio volume **** had a mind of it's own and the HK speaker rings and the midranges (probably due to the crazy volume ****) were crap. Don't get me wrong I love BMW's, I've had a few for roughly 20 years, they are definately the cornering champs but their sound systems suck.

So after a year I saw that my avant was back on the lot, and traded back Ahhh! nice quite ride with a great subwoofer enhanced sound system. And I do believe it's cornering dynamics are better than the 2.7

BUT still have to do the timing belt, its making a lot of noise.

Also, timing belt on the 2.7 took me three full days, hope the 2.8 is easier.

Default Oh, I got it now.

It's not the same car with the TB job, your 2.8 will be about the same as the 2.7 just less parts to remove on the top.

All C5's have a slight under steer issue and the 4.2's can be a bit nose heavy, the advantage is the drive train traction and knowing when to mash the peddle out of a cornering apex is priceless over a BMW.

I think I spent a whole day just removing parts, how embarassing.

I suppose your right with the cornering, I just have to remember it's a much heavier car. I had a 530 and it was terrifying. I'd love to see what an a4 feels like.

...between my 01 2.8 with 16"s and the 04 3.0 with factory 17"s and sport suspension the comparison is way different, 20hp more with the lighter 3.0 grips and scoots in and out of the corners with a grin on my face like a teenager, took me six months to push it when I got it to know the limits.
