Weird issue with my 225
I have an APR chip, EVOMS intake and a Jetex Exhaust for mods. Dog bone mount is new (ECS Ultimate), tranny mount was installed about 10k miles ago (street density 034) and the mount on the TB side was changed when I did the TB job at 60k (street density 034) and I'm currently at 116k miles now.
When I press into the gas 1/2 way or more down, I get this really weird thudding sound that has like a rotating or vibrating kind of noise. This mostly happens in the first 3 to 4 gears as torque builds up the quickest in those gears. But if I gradually build up speed by pressing on the gas a 1/4 way down, the car picks up speed and no thudding/vibrating noise. If I rev the car out of gear I get no thudding/vibrating noise either.
I spoke to an Audi tech and he said it sounds like maybe clutch, throw out bearing or pressure plate is going bad... But I thought to myself, usually if a clutch is going bad you just get bad RPM drops or if the pressure plate was bad the shifter would be hard to get out of gear... The only other thing I could think of is maybe the drive shaft is going bad.
Does the TT have a center bearing for the drive shaft? I remember when my boys SC with a 1J had a bad center bearing for the drive shaft. The car would thud when pulling off or when you geared down...
Has anyone else experienced this type of behavior with their 225 TT???
I'm at a loss as to what this problem might be
