LED License Plate

I'm a little disappointed to see Audi, the big LED buff, use conventional filaments to light up the license plate and reverse lights.

From what I can tell for the license plate lights, it's the same lights used by VW as well. The 6411 type...

You must get one with a resistor otherwise it will keep giving you an error code.

Also, installation of it seems quite easy, same set-up as my friends Kia Soul. Crazy, but true.

I'll research more on the reverse lights later, but all I know is they can't be directional (needs to spread like a bulb would) otherwise they'll be quite weak and become a liability.

What model A6 do you have? I thought they had LED lights over the rear plate...

I finally added my car in my SIG, seems that I pretend everyone knows wtf I have lol.

It's 2012, manufactured early of last year I think... hence the bulbs.

So later model 2012 A6's have led plate lights?

Oh, you have a Prestige.... and the Plate bulbs are only halogen?? That blows...I was hoping it would have LEDs at least over the rear plate

Do you really need to put Resistors on the plate bulb? Will the car through a bulb warning light if you dont?

I still have about 2 more weeks until delivery =(

I believe i read somewhere the newer cars are indeed shipping with LED plate lights. Don't give up hope. If not, tunerdomes has them. Cheap and easy swap.
