Default An 11 year old car with ko4's....

Makes one wonder how much beating has been going on?
If you really want this ride, I'd suggest adding a lot more depreciation
on the price under book value because you might need that cash to cover the unexpected wear items that your going to find aside from the regular age/mileage items.

auto or 6 speed? if its auto and the tranny hasnt been beefed up for the k04 avoid it unless your getting it for dirt cheap.

if it has a 6 speed id say 4500-6500 would be a good buy for that many miles.

Gee, kind of flies in the face of the argument that the OEM turbos are undersized and stressed and that the KO4s work better if you have to replace turbos. These turbos could be a plus compared to an OEM turbo setup at 160k miles.

Just do your homework on the car. Auto trans are a negative if they haven't been serviced or replaced, same with manuals with original clutches with that mileage.

It's worth maybe $3K with that many miles on it in the local MD/VA/DC area.
A 2001 with 100K goes for maybe $6K.

They depreciate like crazy with added miles. K04s are just a maintenance item; if they're a performance upgrade coupled with remapped ECU, injectors, fuel pressure regulation modifications, etc., consider it as icing on the cake but not something to pay extra for. Performance modifications are seldom worth much to a second buyer.

RUN away.... that transmission can NOT handle the power that is being sent to it, if it hasnt been rebuilt yet, its only a matter of when. do it right. get a 6 spd and do the upgrade yourself. Unless he had a shop do it, and has receipts to prove it, i would run from this one.

the only thing that would keep me interested in the price, anything over 3K car has to be in good cosmetic condition as well, otherwise 3k is tops on the auto. like other have said, you dont even get a FRACTION of what you spend on mods. unless you can sell the car to a sucker.

That's a very reasonable price.

roject 2500 is reasonable, but you never know try to knock a 100 or 200 off see if he bites, if the rest of the car (inside, rear, paint etc) are good, this could be a great project, for 6K you could have a perfect brand new car!
