Left side AC Vent Blowing Cold even with Heater On

Left side AC Vent Blowing Cold even with Heater On
My left side AC vent seems to be blowing cold air continuously, even when I turn on the heater and direct the air flow to foot well only. Air flow speed varies directly with fan speed.
(2001 225Q with auto climate control, 33k miles)
A search reveals that it might be a v70 flapper server or v71 air flap motor.
Anyone else have this problem and if so, were you able to fix it?
