Motor oil ran low...
I was wondering if it is normal my engine oil to run low. I have a 2001 A6 2.7T with 123k miles. I had to fill my car with 2 quarts of 0w40 motor oil the other day after it set off an alert saying it was low.
I want to know if this is normal for this car? If so, how often will it be low. Also, will I still need regular oil changes after filling up with the new motor oil.
I am a new Audi car driver so bare with me on these questions.

No, its not normal...
This cause would suggest that a leak is present based on that kind of loss,
the best question to you would be when did you do a oil change or last check the level before this happened?

I quess the miles shed the loss, not that much
I have a 01 2.8 at 134k with minimal loss at 5K then its changed and a 04 3.0 with 73k no loss at 5k when its changed.

Do you never check your oil? 2 quarts down is a LOT - at least some damage will be done if you run a car that low.
Technically, Audi's spec is 1 qt/1000 mi. But my last 2 cars burn essentially zero - i need not top it off (not even 1/4 qt) in 5-7k changes, which are essentially annual.
So there is significant variability, based on manufacturing variation, how the car was broken in, and wear.
