Default Help with VCDS/VAGCOM Codes 01435 + 00287 Brake sensor 1 + RR Speed sensor

Hope someone can help as im struggling.

After doing an auto scan i have got two faults that i cant clear.

The first being 01435 - Brake sensor 1 G201 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

I have changed the brake switch and its still there! - before moving on to bleed the brakes, do i need to code in the new switch to make work?

The next code is 00287 ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44): Electrical Fault in Circuit

I have Changed the sensor- and the faults still there!
do i need to code it in or anything like that? if not whats my next step for trying to fix it.

car is 2001 a6 c5 1.8t notaquatro

Thanks in advance for any help

It's possible u got a faulty abs sensor even if it is new. U might also have an open circuit before the sensor connector or just a bad connection. Check the wiring harness for rodent gnawing or damage as well as continuity between the controller plug and the abs sensor RR plug. If all good you probably have a bad sensor. They're tough to install improperly but I guess it could be done.....

Thanks Sloop. just started fault finding with the multi meter. the new sensor i fitted has resistance of 1.258 k ohms, and the other so called working sensor is an open circuit.

is it possible the have been plugged in the wrong way round on the control module?

im now guna run another scan with the new one disconnected, if my theories correct i should now get 2 faults. watch this space

Unplugging the new sensor made no difference. doesn't look like the could have been put it the wrong way at the other end as the all go into a multi pin plug. unless its always been wrong since assembly?

i have continuity, with no shorts going from the multi pin plug going to each sensor plug- so thats good news. resistance to the new sensor (rear right) is correct, but resistance to existing sensor rear left is open circuit.

One thought is that Ive interpreted the left and right wrong? im guessing the left and right is as if you are sat in the driver seat? not looking at the car from out side with the bonnet pointing towards you?

could it be that a different abs control module has been fitted at some point, and not been coded to the car correctly? thus confusing its left and right in turn confusing vagcom (and me!)

really puzzled now!

Great news.

i have cleared the:

01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
57-00 - Electric Circuit Failure

code.

Solution:

Bled the entire hydraulic system. 28psi for brakes, 36 for the clutch. Left the car for a few days, rescanned today and now no code. Measuring blocks is now showing sensible values under brake pressure rather than 200 bar like it was before!

as for the abs sensor, i plan to fit a new one to the other side and hope that that solves it.

spoke to soon. fault came straight back.

have now replaced the pressure sensor (fortunately its an external fit). fault still there. now sent off the abs module to be reconditioned (last resort!) will post back once i have refitted it. hopefuly it will sort the speed sensor problem aswell.

Curious?

sadly the module was beyond repair. i bought a reconditioned pump and module for £400 it came with a life time warranty which was the main selling point.

i had to code it to the car useing vagom and the brilliant video rosstech have produced.

with the new one fitted i had no fault with the RR sensor or the brake pressure sensor. but it did finally pick up that the RL was an open circuit. changed that and now working brilliantly.

i had problems getting the car to do the basic function test. i dont have any warning lights, or fault codes. and the brakes work so i am happy
