Default New to me 180Q

Traded my MKIV GTI for a 2000 180Q. It looks and drives great. Needs a good and proper cleaning but overall not bad.

Good to get all the bugs worked at the start, then not have to suffer so much later. I'm really liking mine--the chassis is just that much more sporty than a GTI. The '00 in particular has some nice off-throttle oversteer characteristics I have the same ECU code so I guess that means it hasn't had the recall to add ESP (changes to M suffix). I'm working on making my own software tune for it. Seems to be going well so far, I bumped from 8psi to 14psi and just need to work out a bit of boost overshoot at mid rpm range. Let me know if you're interested.

I havent looked into any recalls. I will do that tomorrow although I'm certain recalls will not be accepted due to mileage and time.

Keep me updated on the progress of your tune.

Are you asking me or vwraceguy? If me, than no I'm not. I know what tuner I will be going with when I decide to tune it- Gonzo Tuning.

No mileage or time limitations on safety recalls. Many prefer not to have that one done though.

There's an online forum for tuning Motronic7: www.nefmoto.com
They have free tools for flashing and logging data there, along with most of the knowledge needed for anything from Stage1 through to big-turbo setups. They're mainly focused on 2.7TT, but there's a bunch of 1.8T guys on there too and the same principles apply.

The hard part is deconstructing the software to find the maps to tune, which changes for each software build. That's the part I've done. Probably took about 20 hours.
