Ten years gone, like a song we have heard.
Well what did you expect?
Gasoline these days raise a suspicion on the demise of our emission systems.
Your thoughts are welcomed
Gasoline suppliers are not on my high trust scale. Years ago they were caught charging for ethyl and supplying regular. Now they are not necessarily supplying the brand their sign says. Plus, who is to say the additives are really added in the proper proportions? Plus, with prices as they are, we are not nearly as loyal to the top tier fuels we are supposed to be.
Audi is suspect as well. They are committed to the first owner for 24 months only. After that it is a used car that keeps on supplying profit via spare parts. If their cars pass the much stricter emissions when new and under warranty then they have done their job. Long term performance is not their concern, except for the necessary profit for all these replacement parts. Their claims of "lifetime" trans fluid, etc. are my evidence. This helps sell the car, not keep it running for what we enthusiasts consider a lifetime.
And, our fair government has little real concern for our pocketbook. They make the standards such that only new cars or ones exhaustively and expensively maintained are able to pass the requirements. They are more motivated to encourage early retirement of used vehicles. Cash for clunkers makes the government look good, makes jobs, etc.
Yep, expensive catalytic converters dead in 10 years makes sense.
