Default Value of '02 A6 S-Line?

OK, need some feedback on an A6 I'm looking at. I'm a good mechanic w/ lots of jap bike & some German car (Porsche) experience, but all together new to Audi. He's asking $6k... so here's the listing: [w/ my notes in brackets]

Putting my 02 a6 2.7[Bi-Turbo] tip up for grabs, it has 116,000 and counting as it is my daily driver.

Bose surround sound.
New SSAC Catless downpipes installed
Ecs timing belt kit (included tensioners, water pump, belt and seals) installed at 114,000 also had tranny fluid and filter done at the same time.
[I was told that this was done as preventive, not due to failure]
R8 style xenon projector headlights(factory xenon car)
Slate grey metallic center hood. [Custom painted hood, looks pretty good in the pics]
Factory equipped heated front and rear seats, xenon headlights, sunroof, came equipped with the sport package or s-line as some call it.
Prefered luxury Package, Premium package
Samco ttb[TBB?], 710n diverter valves
The car is ready for stage 2 all it needs is a tune of your choice.

The bad is that it doesn't have a tune yet, because of this it has a check engine light for the o2s, it needs a windshield(possibly fixable but my local place won't try)
A few door dings, the front bumper is gouged where someone backed into it, same with the rear but it's just scuffed.
The new headlights have the alignment dash warning on I never made it to a dealer to get that taken care of.
Wear on the hvac buttons and drivers unlock buttons and missing the center cup holder. All easily fixable. Come with factory sport rims

Other than the interior mentioned the rest is perfect, car is a nice color combo (silver exterior with onyx interior) no tears or discoloring.
He said he runs AmsOil full synthetic.
Additional needs include rear cam plugs, motor mounts are getting there, etc. Little crap that I'm perfectly comfortable dealing with. He told me the turbos are stock and hold a steady *9 lbs* of boost, but he's also never boost leak tested the car. Is 9 PSI a little low for stock? I'd have figured 11-13 on a quality build such as Audi. I do plan to take it to a dealer to have an inspection/VAG scan done. Any thoughts or suggestions?

There is no such thing as a 2002 A6 S-line (available in 2004 only). Those are also not factory sport rims for 2002. The sport package wheels were the 17" BBS RCs. Not sure if a cat-less A6 with those mods (not a fan of the painted hood or those LED aftermarket headlights) is really worth $6k. You can do better elsewhere IMHO, even if it means spending a bit more to get something that is ready for the street.

Just my $0.02

Beat me to it.

Op before you buy any car make sure the title is clear.

And as far as this car, has the timing been changed?

I think 6k is a reasonable price for a 02 2.7

But those mods he put on the car makes the car look "cheap."

Also if your buying this car scan both the engine and tranny for codes. The check engine he talks about could be because of a fault in the tranny. Especially if it's automatic.

And check the turbos. Listen to them. There should be no unusual whines just a clean whistle.

If all those check out and the tinny belt was done I could see 6000 as a good deal. Only thing like I said earlier that hood and headlights make the car unattractive.

Money Pit. Walk.
You'll spend $$$ getting it fixed so it can be licensed/emission checked, etc.

Aftermarket catless downpipes...eww, except for those that are willing to futz with them.

The rest of the stuff might be ok if YOU are a 2.7T aficionado...for a newbie, not so much.

the s-line was offered with 2.7t?

agree with everyone else, walk, you could easily find a better shape car for this money... as for "stage 2" eady, what does that even mean? the whole "stage 1,2,3,4,5,6 whatever" thing is stupid, its a gimmick, a marketing term. there is no standard definition and its really lame.

what you should do is state your power/torque goals and then we can help establish a price that will get you there, then factor that into a new car purchase

dont buy someone else's fail project unless you have experience with this platform/motor or have the cash to bankroll all the repairs

I'd agree with most of the foregoing - unless you are just in love with this particular vehicle and have money to burn, wait and look for other options. You'll be amazed at what you can find with a little patience. Starting with a stock one means you can do just what you want, and not worry about what the PO did or didn't do correctly.

Yeah, that's the only motor the S-Line came with.

It's not the same thing as an S6

Just a 2004 C5 A6 "s-line", basically a 2.7T with the sport package;

a few exterior goodies (wheels, trunk spoiler, sharkfin style antenna & "s-line" badges on the rear doors);

and an extra 10-15hp.. I think

thanks for the clarification, sometimes the terms s-line and s6 get thrown around so much they start being used interchangeably confusing the likes of me

Default I just never forget my Grandpa's words...

Next to Joe Girard in Detroit he co-owned several dealerships and sold many cars in his long life, he was really unique about his words and profoundly funny without directly offending people.
