Wierd crankshaft locking pin plug -- Have you ever seen this??
I'm about half-way through my first timing belt change (and gasket change) and I am at the point where I need to remove the plug in order to insert the crankshaft locking pin (I rented the tool from Blauparts). I've seen many photos, looked at my Bentley as well as Blauparts instructions. I'm pretty sure I found it but it looks nothing like the photos I have seen. Instead of the 10mm nut, it is a SCREW and looks like it is brass. This is the second timing belt change, the last one was done at a dealership.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? Am I looking at the wrong thing? How the heck do I remove this? A stubby screwdriver will fit, but I can't exactly torque this when I put it back. I have posted a couple of photos. It is the round gold thing with the screwdriver slot down the middle.
I have a 1999 A-6 Avant Quattro.
Thank you all in advance!
Mike
