Putting kayak mounts on an A6
Reading the Thule literature, I see that they recommend tying down both the front and rear ends of each kayak. This is easy at the rear of my car, but I do not see a factory tie down at the front. I don't even see an exposed piece of frame metal at the front. Does the A6 Forum have a suggestion for this problem? How might I secure kayaks at the front of the wagon?
Although I will be loading short (10 foot) kayaks, I am concerned about the
stess an overhead load will put on the rails and the body of the car. Has anyone on the Forum gone through this particular experience before?
You could use a tow eye to get a front tie down. The tow eye screws into the front bumper after you remove one of the plastic grilles by the fog lamp IIRC.
