Default Rough ride. What could it be?

Hi folks I have a 00 C5 2.8 ATQ and over the last few months it's developed a rough, harsh ride. I can feel ever bump on the road and its all up front on both the right and left front. Do you think it's control arms, strutts or ???

Btw I did the arms over 60k miles ago. But never the struts.

Could be shocks or control arm. Definitely not struts. ;-)

Hard to tell whether shocks are bottoming out or shocks have failed and have become extremely stiff in compression. I've had both situations, but on Audis only the shocks have become very soft.

You need to determine if you're crashing your suspension stops or the ride is just really stiff.

However, it really doesn't matter...if you've got over 100K on the car replace the shocks either with Koni Sports (a little stiff but great handling with stock springs, better with sport springs) or Bilstein or OEM.

PS: How much air pressure are you running in your tires? Did you just put 22" wheels and tires on the car?

Ok I'll check out shocks today. As for rims, I'm running stock 16s and tires are good with. Good psi, so doubt it's a tire issue all of a sudden

I guess here's the question...how do you propose to check out the shocks? Bouncing on the bumper used to be a relatively quick way to find some bad shocks, but on my old Saab with KYB shocks, I could only get a decent ride after I canned the KYB shocks and went to Konis.

The audi has strong enough springs that pushing on the bumper is tough to get movement. But if you get a LOT of movement the shocks are likely gone.

Default So my shocks are gone

Checked things out today...control arms actually looked good and all, but shocks are blown (driver's side) and the passenger side doesn't have much life in them either.

I figured after 155K, it was about time I replace them. So here's the question now...what do I replace them with. I doubt I will keep the car longer than another 50K miles or so, and am not looking for a more sporty ride, just something as close to stock as possible.

I should also mention that I'm looking at keeping costs down on this and can do most of the job myself, so what would you all recommend for shocks?

Has anyone tried the Blauparts kit and found it to be good? http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail....od=MGR1016%2DA

Thanks

If only 50K get the Blau kit. BTW, get the rear shock mounts. Uppers. The OEM ones are probably shot and if not will be with new shocks.
