Placement of Thule Aero bars on an A6 Avant

Placement of Thule Aero bars on an A6 Avant
Audi A6 Forum:
I have a new Thule roof rack for my 2004 A6 Avant.
I want to carry either dual-kayak J-mounts or two Big Mouth bicycle racks on the car without needing to move the Aero bars. At the same time, I don't want the side of my kayaks to contact the top of the car.
Where should I place the Aero bars on the Audi A6 railings, and how far apart (center to center, let's say)should the bars be for these two applications?

Classic spot for cross bars is marked with two dimples on the inside edge of the rails. Whether this works for your kayak rack you'll just have to try and see. If you put the bars too far apart the kayak on it's side will hit the roof.
