valve cover bolts... are they anything special? I just broke one .
Does anyone know if these valve cover bolts are anything special or can I just pick something up that is similar at the hardware store? The green worries me (is it a copper alloy or something?).
Background: In my futile efforts to track down an oil leak I went to re-seat my valve covers on their new gaskets (which I did a month or so ago) with my NEW torque wrench! The problem, however, was that I cheaped out on the torque wrench and it did not adjust properly (or I'm an idiot, but I'm hoping the former). Needless to say, in the process of over torquing my first bolt, it snapped, right at the top of the cylinder head. I now need to replace the bolt - and figure out how to safely drill out the rest of the bolt.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck
I have some extras if you want them for the cost of a smll flat rate box. I also have most of a 12v engine extra here in Cincinnati.
Ha, usually I'm in Cincinnati (I go to UC) - happen to be on internship out in Findlay, OH this semester though.
