Domio Effect...

So... in early September the car started overheating... Replaced the thermostat and temp sensor on the radiator...
Looked to be a-ok until I decided to go ahead and take it into rush hour traffic... mistake... more overheating but now it popped a hole in the hose between the water pump and the heater core stem on the firewall... oh and that hose is not readily available (p/n 893819375A). Can be had at most Audi dealer for about $130 or possible from German eBay for about $40 with shipping.
Used a "close enough" hose from NAPA with a bender coil on it and all seems water tight.
Still overheating... but now the fan is not coming on at all, AARRGGHH!!
Oh and during all this my five year old battery went kaput and...
Today while driving in to work once the engine warmed up it started miss firing... was fine cold but chugging when warm, but if you get on the gas it will eventually catch and kind have a turbo boost moment when the engine comes to life around 4500 RPMS.
So after reading this long diatribe any ideas on the fan? Was it just the next weakest link in the overheating odyssey?
And how about the miss firing... just coincidence, like the battery?
are you using G12 coolant? did you flush it correctly? Are you getting flow thrum the radiator? Is your water pump working ok?
Yes to the G12
Yes to the proper flush and refill
Yes to the radiator flow
Yes to the water pump working
Other than the fan not coming on, all else seems to be working just fine, and as the weather has turned cold here in Oregon there realy is no problem with overheating now or for the next five or six months...
