Hot air at center vents but cool at side vents..why?

Hot air at center vents but cool at side vents..why?

on a Manual CC 95 90? The middle vent vents get hot air but the side ones vent cool. There does not seem to be any blockage because the amount of air coming through is the same as each other. What causes this? The engine will be at normal operating temps but the air will be tepid to cool on the side vents but nice & toasty on the Center ones. What am I not seeing or doing correctly? Is there a flap that has come loose behind the dash. maybe a wire rod connector is loose and does not stop the flow of cool air to the side vents?

i got a 95 -90 that does the same.
my bmw's have cool in mid (fresh air) & heat in others.
maybe its a german thing - bad heater core , live in fla - so its a/c most of the time
