Not a bad job. For two people doing it the first time it took us about six hours. Write up is in the tech section. You MUST pull the dash. Only thing not in the write up above is the passenger side airbag removal and it is pretty intuitive.

the hardest part is getting the clips off that hold the 2 sections of the heater core box to fan box. You have to then just RIP it out
the other problem could be the 2 bolts that go thru the firewall into the engine bay...sometimes they are rusted and just spin the bolt on the inside.
I have had to cut 1 of these bolts off on ALL 3 heater core jobs I have done..with a dremel and cut disk prob best to go spray some kind of anti rust solution on them now and for the next few days before you try to get them off. My fave is 50/50 ATF/Acetone.

no wonder why PO would not change it.
damm - i can swap a eng in a BMW e30 faster than that.
i guess i'll just turn up the heated seats ! & get a cig 12v plug in heater !
anyone want to buy a 1995 audi 90 aah eng - ac all else fine - no rust (auto trans) wht / blk int - leather - hole in roof.
good tires a little over 100k miles - fla car
$2500 ?

I did this job, along with A/C evaporator 2 summers ago. Took my time, and spent a weekend on the project. Getting the 2 bolts out that went thru the firewall wasn't too difficult, but putting them back in was a bitch, 2 person job.

Make sure you have good lighting to see the clips
mine are gold but others have said they were another color, i found it easier with good lighting and little dentist tooth picks, idk what the mechanical term is but I did this project in 20 hours only because there was a different heater core with shorter tubes so they didn't go through the fire wall, returned it the next day and finished it all up. This can easily be done by anyone. While the dash is out though, check bulbs and wires, I did that and was able to fix a lot, even the window relay which was fried when coolant exploded. It was a mess but fun.
