camshaft postion sensor
you are going to find the caps in two locations... diagonal on your engine.
1. this wont help unless you remove the valve cover on your engine. but...
on the end of the engine.head that has the internal tensioner for your valves will be the same end with the sensor caps. note they are about 2.5 inches in diameter. with a 2 or 3 wire plug coming off them.
2. one in front and one in back of the engine ( again diagonal ends of the engine.) open your timing plastic covers. one of the corners coming from the center of the engine will likely have a wiring harness heading into the TOP of your plastic/metal timing belt guard. this will be leading to the sensor cap.
3. note: i am telling you different ways to find the sensor caps.. hopefully i am not to confusing.
so one side of the front of the engine will have the cap and once you find the one in front you know what it looks like and
here. it look s like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-Volkswa...762497&vxp=mtr

You be careful what information you go telling people, and pay attention to the post, this is on the 12 valve V6, the old style, your describing the newer 30 valve engines 99+. 12 valve engines have one cam sensor, no chain tensioners, single overhead cams. Cam sensor is on the rear of the drivers side head. This is the audi 90 forum, which never was around long enough to have the 30v engine, so please, if you dont know, just stop.
