Default Where should nipple on PCV hose/pipe go?

So my engine runs great after some recent work and it's a new vehicle to me. The original rubber hose that ventilates the crankcase has been replaced on mine with the newer metal pipe. However. There is an open nipple facing to the firewall that puts out a constant slight stream of the cruddy air at idle that I think should be getting sucked into the pipe that goes into the bottom of the rubber elbow intake boot and getting burned in the engine as normal. I am tired of smelling it and would like to plug it but don't want to do so without advice.

Is this metal pipe equipped with the nipple for a hose that is only on the newer 20V engines, so it's OK to simply plug it (my theory)? Or should I route a hose somewhere?

Thanks!

It just gets plugged on early build cars with the hitachi ISV. Late build it runs via a vacuum line to the throttle body.

Excellent - thanks! I will plug it with something exotic like a chunk of fuel line with a screw in the open end. My metal crankcase vent tube also appears to be leaking some oil from the bottom where it attaches. I just cleaned the area up and am waiting for it to get dirty again and confirm this, but if I'm right - is there an O ring or seal under the bottom of this sheetmetal tube. I'm assuming the oily vapors simply condense on it and some inadequate seal is letting this oil come out the bottom. I can't abide by an oily engine now that it's got a new valve cover seal and I've cleaned the block...

The one-piece silicone hose from 034Motorsport seems to seal up well, was very easy to install, and even has a cool 034 logo where nobody is ever going to see it. Not a bad deal for $25.

I plugged the aux hole with an appropriate sized bolt, even looks decent.

No o-rings just the short rubber hose between the metal breather pipe and fitting on the block.
