Default Suggestions for bushing kit for 1990 90 suspension?

My lower A arm bushings have some slack and I'd like to yank them and replace. Looks like 2 bushings per corner and I'm going to do all four corners. Anybody suggest a source for best pricing? I glanced around a week ago and found large price differences. Generally, a bushing is a fairly mundane part with little difference in quality and I'm looking for just stock, not any upgrade. Thanks!!

I'd stick with boge or lemforder for the bushings as the cheapy ones don't last FEQ Meyle etc. Here's good DIY guide to doing them under suspension here
http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/technical.htm When I did mine I got them from rockauto for a decent price. The fronts are a little pricy for the lemforder's but you don't want to have do the job twice.

So, from looking parts sites over, it seems the rears are going to be 37.3mm bushings. But the fronts are either 37.3, or 44.4. The 44.4s came along starting with VIN # 8AOLA45... and above which is my vehicle(8AOLA52...). So just confirming from some Audi folks that seems correct - I need 44.4s for my front?

Thanks. And thanks for the tip on that UK technique for using threaded rod and pipe caps to do this work. I'm thinking I may be able to lay under the car and do these right on the car, though the UK site shows the control arms on a workbench.

Depends if your front arms are stamped steel(early build) or
forged(late build) the latter uses the larger bushings. You'll want to do it on the workbench in a vice. The best method for removing the old bushings involves a hack saw. I've never had much luck getting the bushings to press out.

I replaced mine with the ones that German Auto Parts sells. If memory serves me correctly they were the lemforder's that Yodasfro mentioned in his post. I took my control arms off and brought them over to a machine shop where they used a press to get the old bushings out and to press the new ones in. I had no problem paying someone else to do this as i didn't want to damage my newly acquired bushings using a more primitive way of removing and installing them. Took the guy there about an hour for turn around and I had brand new bushings and some nice riding safe suspension on my 80q. Just beware that you will need some type of closed end offset wrench to get the inner nuts off the control arms. 4 bolts are located inside the subframe and were a bit of a hassle to get off. They like to rust so hit them with some PB blaster before you go trying to remove them. If you strip them you will be **** out of luck.

So, rears are stamped, fronts appear to be cast iron. Should they all be the same f/r?

That is correct front a forged and the rear are stamped. Front arms use the 44.4mm bushings and the rears use the 37.3mm bushings.

Xlnt! Thanks very much. Without a manual (thanks for that attempt, also!) some uncertain parts like this are unnerving to order.

I will let you know how the threaded rod press works out. If it does not, I will turn tail and run to a place with a 20 ton press I've been given access to once in a while. I'm just hoping I can avoid taking off the lower arms, and just do it laying under the Quattro. One trick on that threaded rod trick is to lube the threads of the rod so you are not fighting friction and more easily converting turning torque into power.
