Default Speedometer.

My speedometer hasn't worked since I bought the car. I bought a new one once but it had a yellow plug instead of a black one like mine had. I hooked it up and I'm certain the plugs are for manual or auto. So I hooked it up and it didn't work. I was going to remove and change the plugs. But while removing I broke the blue plug on the back so now my old one is back on it. My question is, would the plug difference cause the speedo to not work. And what does VDO. Mean. I see them on eBay and some say VDO or something. Thanks.

Vereinigte Deuta Ota. That's what a quick web search will do for you. It is now just a trademark of Continental AG, a big company. A small bit of advice. You have posted numerous times and frankly, your posts reflect a lack of comprehension about what is important information. Further, it appears that you ask before you do any research or analysis. Here's a tip. Search the forum. Use www.12v.org to increase your knowledge. Buy a Bentleys manual for your car. We are all enthusiasts and would love to help you, but you need to put some time in studying the systems. A malfunctioning speedo isn't necessarily a gauge problem. It could be a voltage stabilizer problem. It could be a wiring problem. A Bentleys manual would aid in making that determination.

I come to this website because I know it's full of people who know what they're talking about. I can search google and get a million different answers and from a million different websites.. Or I can come here ask my questions and get a quick direct answer explaining what I asked. I've tried researching, it doesn't work for me these websites are my research. I'm new to the audi world, 6 months ago an Audi was just another car out there. I didn't know any of the different models, I'm brand new at this and so far I'm catching on very fast. Whenever I can I try my best to aid people with what little I do know. I do thank you for responding. It shows you care a little.
