Default Audi 90 possible overheating problem?

Hello!

I have an Audi 90 2.3 1989. quattro, 136 hp. I've bought car week ago, and since first day I bought it, there is one thing that bothers me, and I cannot find possible solutions on internet.

So, here it is.

This is my temperature, while driving on open highway at cca 90 km/h ( 55 mph ).

And this is my temperature, while driving in the city:

What could be the problem, if there is one?

Audi has LPG installed on, if that is something of importance.

Oh, and please disregard that disgusting white color, previous owner had unusual taste ( or I would rather say, no taste at all ).

Thank you in advance for your help.

looks fine.

press the AC button and confirm your rad fans turn on. If they do, I think you are fine.

Coolant flush never hurts.

important fact...the needle DOES NOT go past the line tith the dot on either side....If you get up there,,,shut her down and open hood....you could be WAY hotter.

i'm having the same problem my fans are not turning on at all if you hit those the line between those two dots your pressure cap on your overflow tank will pop happened to me not to long ago i've been reading i have heard that the problem could be the temp sensor switch on the radiator not kicking your fans on because it is not sending the signal that its too hot havent replaced that yet though

Check to make sure you have relays for 1st and 2nd speed fans.
If you do then most likely it's the fan switch at the bottom of the radiator which has malfunctioned.

100% of B4s I have looked at only had 1 relay.

as for the fan switch in the rad...if it is broken...the fen is on 24/7....you would not overheat.

Depends on how the switch broke, open or closed. The fans will run full time with AC or not run at all.

Have you ever heard your 2nd speed fan in your B4's because I have not until I put a relay in the 2nd speed fan slot.

It's on the fusebox cover, it's in Bentley and it shows in Etka.

If you are running AC and it's very hot outside the 2nd speed will kick on especially if you are at idle in traffic.

1st. I have had the switch in the rad fail, on 2 diff B4s. when they fail, the fan runs...simple as that. Wanna test it? unplug the switch

2nd. I have never had the 2nd relay, never heard the 2nd speed, and owned 3 B4s....oh, and i have NEVER NEEDED a high speed on my fan.. normal speed does the job just fine...prob why there is no high speed fan relay installed. Maybe African models had it installed due to local heat.

Sure it's not around 100F where you are at but do you run AC in the summer?
If it's over 85F out and you are in traffic with AC on and your engine is over the heavy normal mark the 2nd speed fan will kick on to get it back to normal.

This can only happen if you have the relay which costs $10.

For that price I think I'd rather keep my engine cool as possible, why stress it for no reason?

The Only spot that should be empty is #3 which was omitted on the B4.

My view is you are better having it and not needing it then needing it and not having it.

It might not help you but it won't hurt either.

I lived a hour south of Kingston, it was plenty hot in the summer to need 2nd speed.
