Default Broken headlight......

Passenger headlight is cracked on my 90' 90Q and I have a replacement unit; I have the whole assembly. Is it easier to just replace the headlight or whole unit? I don't have a shop manual to go, by so if anybody has a pdf file on this that would be great. Am I overthinking this, and is it easier than I think?

Over thinking it. Just exchange out the whole unit.

Just visually looking at it, what do I have to remove to get to it. grill, metal trim between bumper cover and body? Screws/bolts are well hidden.

Remove the grill. There are some hidden screws/plastic brackets that hold the metal trim in below the headlights along with 2 + screws holding it to the center support.

Thanks yodasfro!! Are the 10mm bolts @ the center support the only ones holding the metal trim? is there any near the corners near the turn signals? Thanks!

Two screws hold the trim on via some plastic brackets under each of the headlights next to the lower screw on the headlight closet to the grill. The corners at the fender are pins that snap into a grommet on the fender. The two 10mm bolts I mentioned are actually screws not bolts duh! You should be able to see the screws between the trim and bumper.

In the spirit of overthinking it myself, I just went through replacing both on my 1990. Easiest to remove the entire black plastic frame from the car with the lamp in it, and simply put your entire new black plastic frame in the car. Switching the lamp within the frames is a pain. However, be sure your adjusters work easily and if they don't, now is the time to clean and lube the gears and such. Have fun.
