Cargo mat with exposed hooks?

I have read about some people cutting the mat to expose the D rings. I believe the Weather Tech version has indentations for the rings.
Search eBay motors using "cargo a7", list in the lowest price + shipping and you'll see plenty of listings (LED's, nets, umbrella clips, mats, liners, etc.).

I dont like the idea of having to cut holes in the $140 weathertech mat.
I guess my car didnt come with an OEM mat? I cant even find where to get one.
I am considering buying this

A 1/2" hole in the corner makes a nice 1/4" radius. It's a big bit for the home tool box and you can substitute a 1/2" counter sink. Makes a clean hole, doesn't snag on plastics and it might be useful for other projects.

If I were you, I'd spend the money on the WeatherTech cargo liner - it's way nicer than the OEM and like tenspeed mentions, super easy to expose the rings.
