Hard wired my Valentine
Rather than pulling the pillar panel off, I used metal spoons to wedge the wires between the pillar panel and the headliner without damaging the wire. Then I ran the wire all the way down the pillar behind the rubber weather stripping. There is the perfect amount of space behind the rubber for the wire.
You can only see about 1" of the wire with the door open, but I plan to fix that tonight.
I spliced the hard wire into the sunroof fuse, and installed the ground with one of the dash bolts behind the fuse panel.
Install took less than 30 minutes. I could have done it in 10 but I was extra careful.

they do sell those dash and trim plastic wedge kits online. Also, aren't there a few open spots in the fuse box for new fuses? I haven't investigated it myself yet, still looking for a good dash cam...
