The 1st photo shows my 1993 100csq with automatic transmission.
What a jungle it is... evidently someone jury-rigged it. Are all of those Y fittings and check valves really supposed to be there? One larger plastic line goes the the brake booster and another tees off to what appears to be a crankcase vent hose. I haven't much of a clue as to what all that other junk is. I would like to redo it to make it fit under the engine cover but don't know where to begin.

There doesn't appear to be enough plumbing on this one. For example, how does the crankcase get vented? An oil leak has fouled the O2 sensor on that side. It appears that oil is being forced out where a large hose exits the back end of the cam cover.
Large hose from the back end of the cam cover IS crankcase ventilation. The hose goes to the plenum chamber where air gets sucked in by the engine. These breather hoses should be cleaned out once in a while. But the hose is plastic and becomes very brittle. And you'll want to avoid an intake vacuum leak, so it is best to carefully strip the plugs from the hose with a sharp knife and steady hands (careful ...) and replace with 5/8" hose. It is a perfect fit.
