I purchased my first Audi yesterday! It is a black 2012 A7 Premium Plus. I have been admiring them for years and recently decided to go for it. Excited to find a forum of fellow owners. Looking forward to participating as I get to know my new car.
Congratulations and welcome to the club. Car looks great. I see your in Illinois (I'm in Chicago) and looks like the 20" rims. If that is summer rubber on the rims think about winter tires for Nov-March if you plan to drive anywhere.
Thanks, I appreciate the tip. I was just beginning to browse some of the threads on here around that and starting think so as well. I'll have to look into it more. Otherwise, this year I may just stick to my other car (05 Acura TL) for the winter but after driving this one a few days I can already tell I'm not going to want to switch back!
I ran my Q7 all winter on all-season tires (20") and it was great in the snow. This was in Northern New England, and we routinely had ultra-crappy winter weather.
I have Pirelli Cinturatos on mine and I use those all year around with no problem, even though the Toronto winters are cold and sloppy! However, I must add that I am retired and I don't have to go out if the weather is really bad.
Congrats, and enjoy. Make sure you pull off the air plenum cover on the back of the engine. Just pull off the runner gasket on the front. Takes 1 minute. Dealers never do and loads of leaves get trapped down there. They can block the drain. I have a 2 foot 1.5 inch dia hose on my shop vac to get in there and vac out the area every 4 or months.
I strongly suggest getting 19 wheels and dedicated performance winter tires, like the Hankook icept, Pilot Alpin. And think about 245/45 19. I use the dws conti for winter and it's just fair. Anything is better than the stupid touring contis that came oem. My wife's a6 avant with the falken winter performance tires runs rings around my a7 with the dws's.
