False Warning Light
I have a 1993 Audi 100 CS Quattro with a yellow warning symbol frequently alarming from the auto-check system (appearing every 30-60 seconds with loud beeps).
It indicates that I have a defective head/tail light but all of my lights are working just fine. This has been a problem for a few weeks now and I would like to switch off this warning symbol, as it is fairly annoying. The user manual says, "the yellow symbols in the display can be 'switched off' by pressing the check button" (located between the coolant temp gauge and tachometer). However, when I tried doing this while driving, the system beeped twice and a different symbol appeared ("MPH" inside a circle), followed by the usual symbol indicating a defective head/tail light. The problem remains. Do you know how I can get rid of this warning?

the black connector in the back side of the speedometer/cluster has contact problem.
or
a bad/cracked solder point on the autocheck panel
i fixed two in the last month, both were the black connector

I removed the cluster, found the diode that makes the beep and ripped it off the board, and removed the colored bulbs for the auto check and got rid of it. They all seem to do this eventually.

These are 20-25 year old cars, get over yourself. Isn't even necessary. On both my cars, the screen would go fuzzy and would endlessly beep. What the hell would you do. If the new owner wants the gimmick to work they can buy a cluster themselves. Cars had 220 and 240k miles and were well worn, like a could give a **** the auto check works to tell me a brake lights out. I just gave a suggestion that does exactly what he wants, get rid of the warning for good. Your solder trick doesnt fix them all.
