Illuminated Door Sill
I have a 2012 A7 Prestige - does anyone know if the illuminated door sill is lit by an actual bulb, LED, or is it a glow wire? Also, how do you remove the sill to inspect it. Just my driver's side is out so it's definitely not a fuse. I'm hoping it's just a bulb.

It's more of a EL plate. Dealer wants around $700 to replace both of my rear door sills.
edit: This ebay listing shows that the sill are held down with double sided tape. See the last picture.

Very common failure. In my A7 two of the plates were replaced under warranty, one of them twice.

For a free replacement, the car has to be in warranty, there is no recall order for this issue. However, a call to customer service at head office may give you a goodwill replacement, depending on the mood of the person you are talking to.

Illuminated Door Sill
Audi told me it's not covered unless the car is in warranty and mine is not now. I'm not prepared to pay them mucho $$$ to replace it. I'll just live with the driver's side out
