Default Kufatec Front and Rear Camera Retrofit

Greetings,
I have a 2012 Audi A7 Prestige with the Technology package. I have the rear camera, but I'd like to get the front camera too and the corner view option. Has anyone successfully installed the Kufatec front and rear camera systems? (https://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/audi/...ear-audi-a7-4g) I've searched the forums and found some info (mostly on the rear camera), but nothing definitive.
I'd plan on going to a shop to have the physical camera installation work done. My question is would I need to rely on an official Audi dealer for reprogramming, or is this something that I can do myself with a VAGCOM cable? My dealer has told me that they won't install any third-party equipment in the car. (And please don't start a rant on dealer policies over this.)
I'd hate to spend $2000+ on the kit and installation and then find out it doesn't work.
Thanks in advance for any help,
PTC

Kufatec will make sure you have the required coding but it will cost you money. They usually have a dongle containing the programming code, you plug it into the diagnostic connector and it will do the job automatically. On the other hand, if you do have the codes, you can do it yourself with a VAG COM cable.

@tgsnap: Im dealing with the same issue here, but only the rear camera (dont want to spend another 800e to have the front one, although it would be awesome :/ ) and had a chat with kufatec regarding the coding. as fkaufam said, there is a dongle with all the code that You just plug into the car and it downloads whats necessary automatically.

this is it:
https://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/diagn...3g-rear-camera

(You can find it under accessories tab).

the only thing You have to consider is that the current rear camera You have is not the same as the one in the bundle with the front. So You will end up with a spare rear cam (the current one) that will have to be replaced by the new one from the kufatec set. (I think its because the rear only is analogue and rear+front is digital (?) something like that, not sure here)

also, Im a bit lucky here, because the dealer has no issues installing the kufatec set. They even told me that they are also ordering from them, except the customer does not see that, and the price is much higher (so they even advised me to buy it myself, for a lower price)

Thanks so much for commenting. I've had some emails with Kufatec too, they have been very helpful. Here are some of the points they made -

____________________

From Kufatec -

All codings can be done by VCDS. This kit fits on your car but please keep in mind that you need to replace the existing rearview camera - which is factory fitted to this car, according the supplied VIN - as stated in the item description.

Beside this, this is not an aftermarket system, this is the original system which comes from factory if you choose these options upon ordering. Therefore your audi dealer does not seem to be that competent.

From Me -

So do the other parts you offer, the Diagnostic Interface MMI3G - Rear camera (38080-1) or Codier Dongle MQB / MIB - rear view camera (40264), do the programming? And if so, is there one to code the front camera too?

From Kufatec -

No. You do not need these interfaces. The required coding is described in the installation manual.

______________________

Now that I realize it's an Audi part, I may try to work with the dealer on it.

Thanks again for the response.

Looks like the US kufatec is a bit better than the one I was speaking to (probably DE).. because they said it can be done with VCDS, altought they recommend to use their dongle (havent mentioned the manual) ..

and the other thing that is a bit disappointing: "if it wont fit Your car, You can return it within 14 days, but we will refund only 85% of the price" -- what?? they must be kidding me...

I just finished assisting someone do the complete top view retrofit on an A6. It is A LOT of work. Half of the interior has to come out just to run the cables. Clips will break and need to be replaced. Your 10-Park/Steering Assist module may need to be replaced as well. Coding can be done via VCDS however the cameras will need to be calibrated at a dealership after installation or DTC's will be stored. Only the dealer can do the calibration and I know it's not cheap.

Take a look:

If I'm from the U.S., do they subtract the 19% VAT?

If you order from Germany and they ship it from there to the USA, you will not be charged VAT.
