1993 Audi 100 won't engage in 2nd gear but accepts downshift into 2nd.
I purchased the car not to long a go and knew of this problem but the price was so ridiculously low that I bought it, still not regretting it as I just shift from 1 to 3. I'm pretty sure the dude before me didn't treat the the car very well, talking clutchless slamming into gear probably a lot as he used it to drift I think.
Anyways when I try to shift the car into 2nd gear the stick just pops out and if I try to hold it in gear it grinds. Downshifting is fine but as soon as I step on the accelerator and power is transmitted through the gearbox the stick pops out of gear.
Just wondering if the gearbox is a total loss as I won't be buying a new one or if this could be a linkage failure or something else. Can't find anything about this specific problem.
Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance.
