Default Vacuum Leak

Bally Family or others...

I replaced my DV which corrected a running problem at all RPMs that I can only call transforming to the car's performance. It actually has 225 horse now! My son noticed after driving it since March that there are still times when it stutters in higher gears at higher RPMs (which I confirmed yesterday). During a reservoir replacement, I noticed a small hissing in a vacuum line up by the firewall. The line in question in the picture (sorry it's oriented wrong) is the one with the clamps under the coolant line and whatever the other metal line is at the very left of the picture. I think one side goes somewhere on the intake side, the other may go to the DV, but it's hard to trace it under the cowl.

I plan to address, but was curious if anyone knows where it goes.

Assuming you mean the pipe with the 90° bend in it is what you are talking about? My index and middle fingers are touching it in this picture. Just asking for clarification. I added the pipe clamp next to my middle finer not two days ago as i was having a rough idle problem and had to fix it with the clamp and some tape

That's the one and where you put the clamp is where I think it is leaking. Interesting that you have an idle issue and I have a at speed issue. Didn't have time to address today, but as I said, just curious where it goes.

I was having a rough idle and some high end hesitation. The line is for a vacuum line from the airbox to (I believe) the egr valve which is under the intake manifold. If you were to disconnect it on yours, I guarantee you the car will idle horribly. Lucky for you, you have a small leak which you can simply fix with high temp electrical tape. Mine unfortunately cracked right where the pipe met the 90° plastic pipe, which is why I have the hose clamp on it now.

There should be a vacuum hose diagram on the hood of the car. If not, you should buy one from a dealer or dealer online parts source.

Also, the service manual is mandatory for these cars.

Thanks guys. I got a bunch of diagrams from the dealer and will study those. Will also look on the hood.
