Default Hazard lights wont work, new relay didnt help!

I know the MK1 TT had a poor hazard/4-way switch that is known to not last long, so i assumed that is what has happened to mine. i ordered a relay used off ebay from a special German junk yard. When i tried the new one it did not work, the guy was kind enough to send me another one and that did not work ether. My blinkers WILL work on all 3 of them, and the hazard fuse is fine.

When i use the blinker and press the hazard, my original one will make the blinker blink faster when i hold the hazard button. One of the switches will cut the blinker out when i press and hold the hazard, and the other switch does nothing when i press and hold the switch.

sooooooooooo my question is, what are the chances i have 3 BAD Hazard switch/relays with different characteristics?? can anyone verify similar problems? or have any great ideas?

Why would anyone activate the Hazard lights with a turn signal on? Use turn signals and life is good. Use hazard warning when needed and just move turn signal lever to the off position. Maybe there is a shorted wire . Use standard automotive electrical troubleshooting techniques to find and repair. I wouldn't bother though if the turn signals work as well as the Hazard warning.

The hazards do not work, the whole reason i am writing this post. I realize you would never need a blinker and hazard at the same time. But trying to trouble shoot i noticed that the switches acted differently when i tried to engauge both the blinker and hazard at the same time. Getting different results from the same test on different switches logically leads me to think that something is wrong with one or all of them. i ether have a secondary problem or 3 bad switches which i am trying to figure out! i appreciate the reply but im looking for more specific insight.

Use standard automotive electrical system troubleshooting techniques. I would use a new switch/relay assembly. But, hard to believe you have three bad ones.
