Engine swap a6 quattro ideas

Hello I am new here and new to working on these cars. The car I have is in faily decent shape, but not mechanicaly sound. The engine coolant sensor malfunctioned while a family member was driving it and read cold while it overheated and destroyed the engine. Is it worth it to put another cheap used engine in it or is it better to put a engine from another manufacturer in it?

Don't know which engine you have..but a swap is the best solution if you can find a good engine. Fitting another manufacturer's engine would be a challenge.
