Suspension Creaking
hey everyone,
ive been digging through a few different forums and haven't been able to find an answer to my problem. I purchased a 02 with 135k miles. The previous owner had neuspeed lowering springs on factory struts. I am creaking going over bumps and need to know what to replace. I'm going to switch to coils and want to know if I should replace all the bushing and the strut mount. Would this solve my issue?

Had the same problem: creaking sound at low speed over bumps, eespecially bad over speed bumps. Audi lines the font sway bar bushings with a plastic sleeve. That was the culprit. I replaced front sway bar bushings with poly set one mm larger than stock to compensate (20mm IIRC) for removal of the sleeve and presto! Noise gone.

This. Very common problem on Mk 1s
Had the same problem: creaking sound at low speed over bumps, eespecially bad over speed bumps. Audi lines the font sway bar bushings with a plastic sleeve. That was the culprit. I replaced front sway bar bushings with poly set one mm larger than stock to compensate (20mm IIRC) for removal of the sleeve and presto! Noise gone.
