Heat only works on defrost

Heat only works on defrost
I did some form reading . And I see where people are aging they can do a system check . I seen something on YouTube about going thru the system and checking the flap motors ... Can anyone point me in the right direction to figure out how to do this .
Me car warms up as normal and defrost works great . But in auto or with the dash vents button pushed , it only blows cool air out of vents .. I've played with all the settings and only one time was able to get heat out of front vents . So I think it's a stuck flap or motor not working as it should. I also have had a lot of the foam seal stuff owing out my vets recently ..
