Default 17 Years and question on Bilstein HD or Sport to replace HDs

Been a while since I have posted. I still own my 2K Desert Green TTQ. Been a garage queen for a long time. Many distractions and vehicles but the TT still drives well and trade in value not so compelling. I wonder how many of the first owners still are around. In any case, a few issues with the car as time passes. Bilstein shocks don't last a lifetime as seals dry. I installed mine in 2001 and replaced a leaker in 2012. A lot of squeaking over bumps and I fear my right front strut going so if not simply a bushing, shift linkage or exhaust hanger may need to get another full set of those "lifetime" dampers. Currently have HD's with my Eibachs I think which have an inch of drop. Am considering doing the "Sport" units opposed to the HD I have now. If I remember correctly the valving was the same but shorter shaft. Advice welcome.

Second issue I have found on Vag Com is a Fuel Rail 2 error. Cleared the error but it's come back as well as an engine check light. Not sure the culprit but on research noted it could be that the ECU on sensing a change in fueling at low speed will add or subtract fuel to the table. Need to take in for diagnosis. Somewhat related is my 91 octane APR chip surges when I lift at high rpm's. Much smoother in stock setting.

Otherwise I have 29,750k on the odometer. Thought about selling her but hard to rationalize the low resale values. I could probably part out body panels for more.

A few vehicles in the midst since... 06 Ducati SC Mono, '13 Husqvarna 310, '15 Ducati MTS and a host of bicycles. Easier to work on and a little more fun. Been racing alot on bikes and in the ocean paddling. Even decided to do a Hare Scramble 2 years ago after 35 years not racing motorcycles. I own a MB Sprinter passenger van that is my daily driver. Helps to haul the gear and be my main avenue for travel.

Need to catch up on the forum... Interested to see who is still around.

Default Bilstein Sort vs HD

Speaking for my old 911, Sports are a bit stiffer than HDs. I like the firmness, but some would call them harsh. Depends on what your shooting for.

That's what I wondered. I was not sure if for the TT they were same valving. May stick with the HDs in that case since I like the ride. Next Wednesday will see if my shocks are my issue or just bushings making noise. Thanks.
