TT Ability on Snowy / Icy / Slushy

TT Ability on Snowy / Icy / Slushy
Wanted some inputs from folks on the TT's abilities in slick conditions. My son that lives in the Seattle area had the following comment: "I've determined that my car is rubbish over ice and snow". I have always driven torsen unit Audis and never Haldex Audis / VWs. I understand the differences in the mechanization (full time awd versus basically a fwd that pushes torque to the rear wheels when slip is seen), but wanted some real world experiences.
And no, he does not have snow tires...

I have a 02 180 TT Quattro I run over the pass all the time but I have winter wheels and tires with no problems. I have found winter tires work better in the cold then my summer tires the summer ones just don't warm up in the freezing cold

If you don't maintain the Haldex system as required, it will fail and you just have a FWD vehicle. Also note that the electric pump motor for the Haldex clutch system is prone to failure. Fun to troubleshoot (VCDS mandatory) and replace.
