Remote key fob
Audi can get you a new switchblade key with it cut and then you program the controller..easy enough..and about $125
I did that with one of my cars..expensive
On my other Audi..I got a repair kit off ebay and cut out the touch pad on my fob and using some plastic super glue..made a pretty good repair. Got to look carefully as the repair touch pad goes on one way and the super glue grabs almost instantly. If you go that route.
Or you could order a new remote from the bay and program it too.
Many Audi cars from the late 90s and early 2000s used that radio control number.
I presume you have a two button remote..about $5 for a repair pad.

The switchblade key idea is also good. My current key isn't. I have 2 keys- one just "plain" and one with the light on it. I don't use that one because the battery holder is worn and won't stay closed.
Yes, I have the 2 button version, no key, with the panic button on the top edge opposite the key ring..
