Default Please Help: 2017 A3 Door puddle light questions

Hello All,

I am a new owner of 2017 Audi A3. I just picked up a set of Door puddle light from the dealer and apparently I did not know that my under panel does not have the stock light installed on it.

How I go about installing these lights? Once I cut out the under panel where these belong, would I see a pre-installed connectors for the new door puddle lights?

Please help. Thank you.

it depends on how handy you are. I didn't do it personally but I have a friend that did. First you gotta cut the hole the right size. Too big and it will just fall. Second you have to take off the door panels. Now the lights you bought do not come with the wires to reach the door control module. Those you will need to purchase as well. After you've done all that then you will need an OBDeleven or Vagcom to do the coding. Then reinstall everything. From what I told it was a decent amount of work and my friend is handy.

Thank you for the reply. That sounds like a pain...luckily, I am taking it into the dealership to get it done. Fortunately, I told my rep about the advertisement on their website that they are selling the lights installed at $180 so he spoke to the service manager about it to have it honored (to get to this point, I literally had to fight and argue with the dealership's parts & service dept for days).

Hopefully, dealership will do the job right (considering that price point, I fear that they might half ***)....

Update

After taking the car to the dealer...after 6 hours, dealer called me and said they can't do the job for the price I was quoted since

my car did not have any lights installed already..dealer said they would have to cut out the door panel, remove them, get wiring harness, etc

so the job was going to cost over $2000 and that they do not recommend it.

I gave up on the project and it would be too much of a work for me to get these lights installed...

I had a feeling that would happen. Knowing what it took for my friend to do the install your price seemed extremely low. It really isn't worth it unless you can do it yourself.

I could do it myself...but...as I got older..I realized that even smaller jobs like this would be pain in the ***....

How long did it take your friend to complete?
