2015 Audi A3 1.8T, RPM too high for 30MPH?
Hey guys, just got a CPO 2015 Audi A3 1.8T S-tronic with 23k miles about 3 weeks ago. Since then i've put about an additional 1,300 miles on it.
Just today, my car started reaching pretty high RPMs for low speeds; I'm currently reaching up to 4000 rpm when on Drive, shifting from 2nd to 3rd at about 30MPH. I didn't notice this before (I could've sworn it would shift at about 3000 rpm before) and I was wondering if this was normal. I read that this was about the car "learning" how I drive, but I wanted to ask before I ignorantly destroy my transmission or my engine.

It is a CPO so perhaps you should check with your service department?

Hmm that's strange indeed. I have no experience driving the 1.8 A3 but it sounds excessively high with the RPMs for low speed but I don't know your driving style. For example are you punching the gas? Even and maybe even particularly in Drive if you punch the gas it activates the kick down switch and revs the engine higher while downshifting as it thinks you're going to need to require sudden acceleration. Again, I/we don't know all the details of your driving habits and what you've experienced over time.
