Default 2018 S3 MPG (7-speed S-tronic) report

Did a test today - I drove it like I stole it for about 100 miles - then drove back like Ms. Daisy (kept it at 72 via cruise control).

Car was loaded with 4 people and a full-trunk.

(According to car measurements)
23.5 mpg on the way
30.5 mpg on the way back - I think I could have had 32 or 33 if I was alone in the car.

Pretty cool.

Just drove from SF to LA (and back) drove down at around 75-80 mph, (average 63 mph on the computer) - 31 mpg

On the way back, drove it like I stole it (average 76 mph) - 25.3 mpg

This is a pretty awesome outcome - until I hit the Grapevine (big mountain near LA) - the computer was showing 34.2 - wow.

Anyway, really liking that extra gear.

What kind of mileage were you getting with your '15 S3?

Fantastic news, picking up my 2018 S3 tomorrow. Coming from a MK7 GTI so excited for extra power with another gear!

Do you have 19s or 18s? Would be interested to see the gas mileage difference if there is one.

The best was 30 MPG on a trip to LA - averaged 58 mpg - never broke 70 mph.

My overall over the years, mixed city/highway commutes (50/50) I averaged 19 +/- mpg. I also did math at fill-ups to check, the math always matched the computer.

My 2018 is averaging 22.2 and its not broken-in yet, but I am also babying a bit more than my 2015.

19's, at 39 psi. front, 37 rear.

My winters are 19's too - so I can't help there, sorry.

I wonder if the S3 7 speed is mechanically the same as the RS3 except for gearing... We already know the ratios are different but wondering if the RS3 is beefier elsewhere as well.

Knowing VAG they don't mechanically special-purpose the trans for their applications, that I know of - obviously lots of options available via software however.

Honestly, I was surprised that Audi mechanically beefed-up the 2.0 motor in the S3 application.

Isn't that a bit low? My 2018's door jam indicates 44psi front/rear - also 19s.
