Default Audi A3 Pros and Cons

I was in the market for an Audi A4 when I stumbled upon the Audi A3 2.0T sedan. I test drove both and of course the A4 has more comfort room yet a lot of buttons on the dash, which I hate! The Audi A3 2.0T had a better sense of a sport car, especially when slamming the accelerator (that torque WOW). Funny thing is I am second guessing the A3 and wanted to hear what are some of the pros and cons of this vehicles vs the A4.

Also the A4 will feel more like luxury than the A3 - how to do usually drive? That should answer for you. Do you drive aggressively or are you calm and collected?

Are either of them S-line models?

I'm more of an aggressive driver, fast yet safe. Just not sure if I will regret my choice down the line for the more compact sporty feel of the A3.

Well, you'll have the choice of wheel size to help moderate in one direction or the other and it can be a significant change - you can also spend a little on the suspension after purchase to either soften or stiffen.

I think what I’m more worried about is the comfort in size. Sure, as the driver i will be as comfortable as I want, but can't help but wonder about my rear passengers and if they will feel comfortable in a compact Audi A3.

Yeah, that's a totally different metric for deciding - back seat is notoriously small. I only have my kids and they fit fine but adults over 5'10 might be a little unhappy on a longer trip.

I own an A3 but have driven a new 2017 A4. Really loved the smoothness of the A4 and the ride comfort but it did not feel as sporty as the A3. (As Audi intended) Initial take off is reserved (lethargic may be too strong a word) unless you drive it manually. I have two kids (teen and pre teen) and they aways complain about the lack of rear seat room. When I had the A4 as a loaner, the rear legroom was the first thing they commented on!

That just makes this decision even harder honestly. A compact sized sports car such as the Audi A3 is fun not only because of it's initial specs (power), simple and technological cabin and devilish exterior, but because of its compact size. There's a better feeling when driving, in that I can weave in and out between vehicles with a better sense of control than with a longer vehicle, knowing you have more clearance in a way. I kind of wish they just made the trunk smaller somehow. I actually drive a 2012 Ford Focus Sedan and those are about 1-3" smaller in length than the Audi A3. Either way, I am looking to actually buy the vehicle, whether it be an A3 or A4.
