Default RS3 and MMI Generation 2 "Light"......wth?

Ok, just playing with the key verification and other things, I noticed I didn''t have a 10 digit scratch off on my plastic key that came with the car. I figured we would get the ability to remote lock/unlock, but AOA is telling my SA that the RS3 has a "light" version of the Gen 2 software, and we don't get those cool features for the MMI Connect? Wth??????????? Anyone get a 10 digit scratch off code on their plastic key? Making sure they're not giving me a line of ****.

No, these features are not available on the MQB platform, even in the RS3 and TT RS. The MMI in those cars is a less capable version. It's also noticeably slower. I took out a 2018 TT RS for a day in the canyons yesterday, and the MMI felt sluggish and was missing features compared to the higher up cars. The MQB platform was the first platform to receive the 4th generation MMI, but later models such as the B9 A4 etc. got more features. It looks like they just kinda slapped the virtual cockpit on it, but didn't really catch up the rest of the system to what you get on the other platforms.

The MQB platform is all around entry level unfortunately, missing things like memory seats, driver assistance such as ACC etc. and a more basic MMI.

It's crazy......I've had 3 RS models.....and EVERY one has had some old feature that was like it was just yanked from the old parts bins. My B7 RS4 had a MMI from the 1920's (The recaro seats made up for it), the TT-RS wasn't much better, now the RS3 does "almost" everything the other cars do, except a few others....makes no sense.

Well, S and RS models are just higher performance versions of the A. What's in the A is essentially what you get in the S and RS models plus the performance bits and perhaps some better interior materials, but as far as creature comforts and features are concerned, those are just carry overs from the A models they are based on. Pretty much like that with all car manufactures. I guess it's a bit more apparent with RS vehicles, because they tend to come out later in the lifecycle of the platform, so it feels like the tech etc. is already outdated. The different age of the platforms is a factor, too. The MQB platform is already at it's midcycle refresh, where the B9 platform for example just came out.

I'd say this is intentional with Audi too - they want a reason for you to move up to the higher model lines if you want those additional features. I thought for sure when I bought my S3 (it is my first Audi) it would have had the ability to remotely lock/unlock but was disappointed as well, especially since that is a big selling point of Audi to get you to download their MMI Connect app. I'm guessing the A3 line will eventually get this feature, but will always lag behind the higher model lines in terms of features, even if they could be easily added.

My RS3 has Adaptive Cruise Control, it's available as part of the Technology option package.

The Prestige trims do indeed, I missed that. Good to know.
