Audi AMI Bluetooth??

For the past few years the bluetooth adapter I referenced above has been great. Once in a while the car would not register any device in the AMI, so I would just unplug the cable from the adapter and plug it back in, and it would be fine. However, I just recently received an amazon echo auto which, for the first day, worked great. It connects via bluetooth/something to my phone, my phone is bluetoothed to the adapter, and it worked great. I could say "Alexa, play my favorites" and it would start playing in my car (in the same way that I could manually open amazon music on my phone and play it through the adapter).
However, after that first day, the car will no longer show the adapter in the AMI section of the music source. I tested it with an old iPhone (plugging the ami cable into the phone) and the car saw it just fine and was able to stream music. when i plug the cable back into the adapter, the adapter powers up and connects via bluetooth to my phone (and my phone seems to think it's sending music to it), but the car won't show the adapter in the AMI.
Any thoughts? Did the adapter suddenly go bad (though still powers up and connects to my phone) coincidentally one day after using the amazon echo auto? Could something with the car have gotten messed up (not likely since it still works with an old 30 pin iphone)?
