Default Rear window heater, lights and central lock problem at same time

So it is bear winter here in Norway now and it has been cold and warm every other day the last few weeks. My doors freeze, my locks freeze and just about everything else too.. But it always starts and run fine.. First i noticed my heater in rear window sometimes don't work.. Then when i try using my blinkers they go at lightning speed sometimes just as they do when a bulb is broke, and other times they work normal.

And my central lock has sometimes been slow (need to bang on the defa remote for it to work). And last time i locked my car the defa remote would not work.. Have no idea if it is the remote or the car. So now my car is in alarm mode and can't turn it off.. Had to cut the wire to the horn to not scare the neighbours every time i use the car.. So i can use the car but the lights blink for 2-3 minues before it stops. Tried taking fuse 6 and 38 out to disable it.. Don't do nothing.. But i would like to fix the problem also.

Anybody got any ideas for the short and longtern fix?

My car is a 1999mod 1.9tdi

Dam, electrical gremlins are plaguing me too. The bentley schematics are inadequate for my taste.....I have to begin taking the dash apart to look for my problem.

Old wires, shorts, ground issues......

Start by checking inside the rubber sleeve where the wiring comes out of the body of the car and enters the driver's door. This is a notorious location of problems for your described symptoms. The insulation becomes brittle over time and breaks or flakes off causing short circuits, cross connections and broken wires. The central control point is in the driver's door lock module, which could also be causing a problem. Start by changing the fob batteries then check the wires as described.

The weird thing is that the central lock still works.. I just cant turn off the alarm. But i cant figure out if it is no signal leaving the defa fob or if the box in the car dont recive the signals from the fob.
And is the reciver box located under the steeringwheel where all the relays is?

Since you mentioned in your first post that the rear defrost was occasionally not working, that may be related. Check your wiring.
I think you hit the nail on the head.. All my problems started when it got cold and the defroster did not work.. And i have some kind of air leak in the back of my car also as ice freeze on my rear window all the time.. So i guess it is water going in the electric parts some place there.. thanx for the tip.. I will try to look at it when i get a warmer day here.. Brrr going on -4 degrees Fahrenheit here... And btw.. You think disconnecting the battery will reset the alarm so it will atleast turn it off temporary?

Battery did not work. Checked the antenna too.. But couldn't find any issue there.. You know what wires go where?

I got a feeling too that it can be the keyfob that is the problem.. Can i just get a new non original for to work on it?

If it's not working, it's probably not an Audi problem, and I doubt that we can help with that kind of problem.

Time to find "defaworld.com" and go to their forums and ask for help.
Good idea too, but i still have problems with the rear window heater so still an Audi issue.. Any ideas there? I get moisture all the time gettin on my windows inside the car so i would guess there i an electrical issue there. Any known problems with selant so moisture can get into the car?

Could also be rear sunroof drains. Any water stains on pillar trim or headliner? I would not rule out aftermarket alarm and would disconnect it to further diagnose. The fact that you giving it a whack is a clue.

That cowl cover is not that thight.. Thanx for that tip.. Sometimes there is ice on the inside front window so that is a good reason why.. I have feared leak to the "brain" from under the battery but everything is dry and nice there.

But still wonder why my rear window always freeze up inside. Is there some moisture leaks that are known from that area?
