A6 C5 Avant 402 mod
Does anyone know if the 402 mod works with the self levelling suspension (rear only) on the 4.2 Avant? I would like to look into options for lowering to car around 15-20mm. All of the info I find is specific to the Allroad models. I hope there is this option as a complete system removal and a coilover retrofit is not really in my budget! The front is conventional shock and spring so that would be taken care of by some uprated lowering springs.

The 402 mod is only for models with air suspension, like the C5 allroad. That mod uses VAG-COM software coding to trick the car's leveling computer into thinking it is higher than it really is, so it lowers the car to compensate. If your car has traditional shocks and springs, you can only lower your car with lowering spring (fixed height) or coilovers (manual adjusting)

HI BD - thanks a lot for your reply. Actually, my A6 Avant has a combination of suspensions types - up front is conventional shock + springs and at the rear I have self levelling air suspension (air spring bags on each strut and the Continental air compressor in the left hand trunk storage area). This is why I was wondering about the 402 mod on my car - just for the rear. Otherwise I would have to remove the whole air suspension system for the rear and convert to coilers just to lower it by 20mm!
If no-one here knows about this then maybe I should contact Ross Tech directly ?
